Serves: 25-30 rolls | Prep: 15 min | Cook: 10-15 min | Ready: 1 1/2-2 hr
INGREDIENTS
1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 2 c. milk 1 pkg. dry yeast 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 5 c. flour
NOTES
I have been lucky enough to be invited to many holiday meals at the Williams home when these beauties were served. This recipe has been in Dale’s family over 3 generations.
The term mouth watering was added to the dictionary because of these rolls.
DIRECTIONS
Heat first 4 ingredients n a sauce pan until shortening is melted. Cool.
When mixture is luke-warm, add yeast, soda and baking powder. Stir until all is dissolved. Add about 5 cups flour. Mixture should be sticky. Be careful not to add too much flour.
Let mixture rise until double in bulk. Push down and let rise again. Make into rolls. Let them rise.
