Panettone Bread Pudding

INGREDIENTS

1 Panettone Cake, 26.2 oz.
8 eggs
2  1/2 c. milk
1  1/2 c. heavy cream
1  1/4 c. sugar

Whiskey sauce 
1/2 c. whiskey
1/2 c. heavy cream
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. melted butter
1/4 c. sugar, adjust to taste
1 tsp. vanilla

NOTES

Bauducco is the best brand of panettone cake to use.

DIRECTIONS

Cut up the Panettone cake into 1 inch cubes. Spread butter around the inside of a 9×13 baking dish and place the cubed up cake inside.

Custard instructions
For the custard, in a mixing bowl, add sugar, milk, heavy cream and eggs.  Whisk the ingredients together and pour over the Panettone.

Bake instructions
Set the grill to 350 degrees on indirect heat.  Oven temperatures are the same.

Bake for about 1 hour. To ensure a cooked through bread pudding do a toothpick test by inserting into the center and removing clear.

Whiskey Sauce instructions
In a saucepan, add whiskey, sugar, heavy cream, milk and melted butter. Bring the ingredients to a boil constantly whisking. Then let it simmer until the sauce thickens. Spoon on top of individual servings topped with vanilla ice cream. Other option is to spoon over entire pudding while still slightly warm.
